SexSearch.com Becomes 1st ASACP Dating Sponsor

LOS ANGELES – Adult dating site SexSearch.com has become the latest corporate sponsor for ASACP.

SexSearch is the first adult dating site to become a sponsor. The company allows visitors to post profiles and view profiles of other members for free. The inclusion of this new segment of the adult entertainment industry proved a more difficult task than usual due to the nature of adult dating sites.

“Adult dating sites represent new challenges when it comes to developing Best Practices,” Joan Irvine, executive director for ASACP, said. “Unlike other companies, we ask that adult dating sites have their lawyers send us a letter stating that they are making every effort to comply with Best Practices.”

The Best Practices issue, which requires members and sponsors to meet an industry standard for protecting children, posed a difficult question for the ASACP council when it comes to dealing with dating sites.

“This issue took almost two years to figure out,” Irvine said. “The challenge was unique to this segment of the industry because dating sites show user profiles and serve as a forum where users can meet. The new Best Practices allow us to work closely with a dating site since compliance is specific to how the site works.”

Now that ASACP has cleared the Best Practices’ hurdle, Irvine anticipates that other companies will follow SexSearch’s lead. As a sponsor, SexSearch will have the right to display the ASACP’s button on its site. According to Irvine, the button, which certifies a company’s efforts to protect children from adult material and sexual predators, is something that more and more surfers look for.
